Rain Lashing out South Tamil Nadu

Heavy Rainfall : Due to the cyclonic circulation heavy rainfall recorded in South Tamil Nadu districts like  Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari, and Tenkasi. Kayalpattinam Records Historic 93Cm Rainfall in past 24 Hours. Already Indian meterological Department alerted that South Tamil Nadu and Kerala will receive very heavy rainfall. Due to heavy rainfall severe waterlogging  experienced in most of the places in southern districts.

 

As per Meterological Department of India, Heavy to very heavy rain with Extremely heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Tenkasi districts of Tamilnadu. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Theni and Virudhunagar districts. Heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Ghat areas of Coimbatore district, Nilgiris, Dindigul, Madurai and Ramanathapuram districts of Tamilnadu today 18-12-2023.

 

Tamil Nadu State Govt alerted District Admininstrations in South Tamil Nadu to make necessary steps to carry out rescue and other relief operations.   People are relocated to safest places like relief camps where food and other essential items are distributed to people.

 

Already Tamil Nadu Government announced Holiday for Schools and colleges in South Tamil Nadu. Anna University postponed the semester  exams in four districts  Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari, and Tenkasi  Region due to heavy rainfall.  Chief Minister MK Stalin appointed  and IAS offices are appointed to oversee the rescue and relief operations.

 

Multiple trains are cancelled in Madurai Railway Division and short terminated at Kovilpatti. Many passengers are stranded in railway stations due to waterlogging. Many people arranging private vehicles and continue their travel. TNSTC helps the people in transporting the stranded passengers in railway stations.
